Fightstar Championship 38: Two Title Fights Headline Manchester’s Road to UAE

Fightstar Championship returns to Manchester’s BEC Arena on Saturday, October 17th, with two championship contests leading FSC 38. Haider Khan meets Alan Silva for the interim light-heavyweight title, while welterweight champion Tom Mullen defends against Janderson Conceição. The event forms part of the promotion’s Road to UAE series and will stream live and free on DAZN in supported territories.
With established British fighters facing experienced Brazilian opposition, the headline bouts offer a chance to claim championship gold and strengthen their standing within the promotion. An unbeaten prospect and several regional names add depth to the supporting card.
Khan and Silva Fight for Interim Gold
Haider Khan enters the main event with a 10–2 professional record and an opportunity to rebound from his most recent defeat against Jhony Gregory in Dubai. The British light heavyweight has gained international experience, including an appearance for the Professional Fighters League earlier this year, and now has a five-round championship assignment in Manchester.
His opponent, Alan Silva, brings considerably more professional experience. The Brazilian is listed at 21–14–1 on the published event card and has competed across several promotions, including OKTAGON. For Khan, the challenge is to deliver a championship-level performance against a veteran familiar with the demands of international competition. For Silva, it is a chance to turn that experience into an FSC title.
The interim belt adds significance to a matchup between two fighters at different stages of their careers: Khan looking to establish himself among the promotion’s leading contenders, and Silva seeking another major achievement in a lengthy competitive career.
Mullen Defends Against Conceição
The second title fight sees Tom Mullen put his FSC welterweight championship on the line against Brazil’s Janderson Conceição. Mullen arrives at 12–2 after defeating Nathan Jones at FSC 37 in London in August, and Saturday offers another opportunity to build on that success.
Conceição brings international experience and a finishing threat to the contest. His record is listed as 8–6 on the event graphic, although DAZN notes that some MMA databases show a different professional total. Regardless of that discrepancy, his task is clear: defeat the British champion and leave Manchester with the welterweight belt.
For Mullen, retaining the championship would reinforce his position in the division. For Conceição, an away victory over an established titleholder would provide a significant platform for the next stage of his career.
Kashket Leads the Supporting Cast
Unbeaten bantamweight prospect Max Kashket faces José Vagno Soares in one of the evening’s featured non-title bouts. Kashket has a chance to preserve his perfect record and make an impression on an internationally broadcast card, while Soares has the opportunity to halt that momentum.
The published professional lineup also includes Mohammad Jano against Nils Goitom at flyweight, Yacine Sifi against Nathan Lambert at welterweight, and Leonardo de Oliveira Barbosa against Scott Johnson at flyweight. These contests give the supporting fighters a prominent stage alongside the championship headliners.
