PFL Africa: Morocco Brings Semifinal Drama to Casablanca

PFL Africa heads to Morocco on Saturday, October 10th, for a historic event at the Mohammed V Sports Complex in Casablanca.
The card marks the PFL’s first North African event and serves as the semifinal stage of the continental tournament. Fighters across the bantamweight, welterweight and lightweight divisions are competing for places in the PFL Africa Finals and a chance to win the $100,000 grand prize.
Kane Meets Medkouri
The event is headlined by a heavyweight clash between Senegal’s Abdoulaye Kane and Moroccan home favourite Badr “Dastan” Medkouri.
Kane enters with a 5-2 record and has finished all five of his victories. Four have come by knockout, while the other came by submission, making him one of the most dangerous finishers on the card.
Medkouri brings a 9-3 record and will have the support of the Casablanca crowd behind him. The Moroccan knockout specialist has eight stoppage victories and will look to turn the home advantage into another statement performance.
Together, Kane and Medkouri have recorded 13 stoppages, setting up a heavyweight main event with genuine finishing potential.
Home Advantage Versus Power
Kane will be looking to close distance, create exchanges and use his physicality to test Medkouri early.
Medkouri, meanwhile, will aim to keep his composure and find opportunities to land his own power shots. Fighting in front of a home audience can provide a significant boost, but it can also create pressure if the contest does not go according to plan.
The matchup is expected to be decided by which fighter can impose the pace. If Kane can force a high-pressure fight, his finishing ability could become decisive. If Medkouri can manage the distance and land cleanly, he has the power to end the contest at any moment.
Tournament Semifinals
The heavyweight main event is supported by six semifinal bouts across three divisions.
The announced tournament matchups include:
- Karim Henniene vs. Raphael Uchegbu.
- Shido Boris Esperança vs. Peace Nguphane.
- Additional bantamweight, welterweight and lightweight semifinal contests.
The winners will advance to the PFL Africa Finals later this year, taking them one step closer to the continental championship and the $100,000 prize.
The card also features regional showcase bouts, giving more African fighters the opportunity to compete on one of the biggest stages in the continent’s MMA calendar.
A Landmark Event
PFL Africa: Morocco is being promoted as North Africa’s biggest MMA event to date.
The event represents an important step for the PFL’s African tournament structure, which brings fighters from across the continent together in a season-based format. Casablanca will provide a major platform for Moroccan talent, while competitors from Senegal, South Africa and other nations look to establish themselves on the international stage.
The tournament format adds extra pressure to every semifinal. A single loss ends a fighter’s route to the final, while a victory can transform their career.
A Night of Opportunity
Kane versus Medkouri gives the event a heavyweight attraction capable of ending at any moment, but the tournament semifinals are the card’s central focus.
For the semifinalists, victory means a place in the PFL Africa Finals and a genuine opportunity to claim continental recognition. For Morocco, the event offers a chance to showcase its fighters on home soil.
When PFL Africa arrives in Casablanca, the stakes will be clear: one night, six semifinal places and a route toward the $100,000 prize.
