UFC Fight Night: Allen vs. Duncan takes place on Saturday, October 10th, at the Meta APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event is headlined by a major middleweight matchup between Brendan “All In” Allen and Christian Leroy Duncan.

Allen, ranked fourth at middleweight, faces tenth-ranked Duncan in a five-round contest that could have major implications for the division’s title picture. Both men arrive with strong winning momentum, but their paths to victory could not be more different.

Allen Brings Elite Grappling

Brendan Allen enters the main event with a 27-7 professional record and a three-fight winning streak.

Allen is one of the most dangerous grapplers in the middleweight division. He ranks second in UFC middleweight history for submission victories and has developed a reputation for making opponents uncomfortable through relentless pressure, clinch work and high-level grappling.

His latest victory came against Edmen Shahbazyan in a Fight of the Night performance. That win showed Allen’s durability, composure and ability to take over a fight as it progresses.

Against Duncan, the plan will be clear. Allen needs to close the distance, force Duncan towards the fence and turn the fight into a wrestling and grappling battle. If he can get behind Duncan in the scrambles, his rear-naked choke threat will become a serious factor.

Duncan’s Biggest Opportunity

Christian Leroy Duncan enters with a 15-2 record and a five-fight winning streak.

The Gloucestershire fighter is making his first UFC main-event appearance, and a victory over Allen would represent the biggest result of his career. Duncan is a highly creative switch-stance striker with sharp movement, unusual angles and the power to end a fight quickly.

He holds a four-inch reach advantage over Allen, and that range could be crucial.

Duncan will need to avoid being backed up against the cage. Open space is where he is at his best, allowing him to move freely, switch stances, throw unpredictable attacks and punish opponents as they enter.

His takedown defence will face a major test against Allen. If Duncan can stay composed, stop the early wrestling attacks and make Allen pay for failed entries, he has the striking ability to change the fight in an instant.

The Supporting Card

The co-main event sees Britain’s Jai Herbert take on Matheus Camilo in a lightweight matchup.

Herbert has the opportunity to deliver a major win against a dangerous Brazilian opponent, while Camilo will be looking to establish himself in one of the UFC’s deepest divisions.

Veteran featherweight Andre Fili also faces Kai Kamaka III. At bantamweight, Malcolm Wellmaker meets Otari Tanzilovi in a contest featuring two fighters looking to build momentum.

The preliminary card includes Julius Walker against Gerald Meerschaert at light heavyweight, Francisco Prado versus Ismael Bonfim at lightweight and Niko Price against Leon Shahbazyan at welterweight.

Felipe Franco meets Brendson Ribeiro at light heavyweight, while Allen Frye Jr. faces RJ Harris in a heavyweight contest. The card also includes Alice Pereira versus Daria Zhelezniakova at women’s bantamweight and Melissa Gatto against Ernesta Kareckaite at women’s flyweight.

A Defining Middleweight Fight

Allen versus Duncan is a classic grappler-versus-striker matchup with real rankings implications.

Allen will look to use experience, physical pressure and elite submission ability to turn the fight into a grappling contest. Duncan will aim to use his movement, reach and creativity to keep the fight standing and land the kind of strike that changes everything.

For Allen, it is a chance to protect his top-five position and continue his climb toward title contention. For Duncan, it is the opportunity to prove that he belongs among the best middleweights in the world.

The main event is likely to come down to one key question: can Duncan keep the fight in open space, or will Allen find a way to drag him into his world on the mat?
